The survey respondents comprised of 47 insurers. From these respondents, 24 were large carriers having one billion in premiums. The remaining firms were midsize and smaller firms.Â
Firms were asked in which department(s) have they focused most in automating. Respondents could select up to three departments.

As of 2023, small insurance firms focused automation efforts on underwriting, with over half of surveyed firms stating this department was the most automated. Customer service and data management joined with analytics held joint second place, with ** percent of firms stating they had concentrated efforts on these departments.Â
