On March 10, 2024, Portuguese citizens went to the polls for a general election that would determine the deputies of the new legislature. The Democratic Alliance (AD) coalition gathered the highest share of votes with 28.02 percent. The Socialist Party (PS), which led the previous government with an absolute majority, received approximately 28 percent of the votes. CHEGA emerged as the third great political party in Portugal, accounting for 18.07 percent of the votes.
