On May 19, 2024, the people of the Dominican Republic went to the polls to vote in the general presidential elections. Luis Abinader, who was running for re-election, was the candidate who received the highest percentage of votes with 57.44 percent. Former President Leonel Fernandez came in second with approximately 29 percent.
