Participants selected up to two answers.
Respondents came from national samples from each country. The quota approach was employed to ensure that the sample was representative of gender and age.
*The source conducted 3,000 interviews in France and 800 in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. 41 percent of respondents in Germany, 42 percent of respondents in Austria, 42 percent of respondents in Belgium, 42 percent of respondents in Spain, 41 percent of respondents in France, 44 percent of respondents in Italy, 38 percent of respondents in Norway, 43 percent of respondents in the Netherlands, 42 percent of respondents in Poland, 42 percent of respondents in Portugal, and 40 percent of respondents in the UK planned to buy a car, but not in the next 12 months. The overall count represents all respondents, not just those who were waiting to purchase a car.
