* 80 respondents were interviewed from each country and region which included Austria, Greece, Italy, the Nordics (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland), Portugal, Spain. Additionally, 90 respondents were interviewed each from France and Germany and 200 respondents each from the Netherlands and the rest of Europe (Poland, Romania, Belgium, Czechia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Ireland, Croatia).Â

As of March 2024, the share of chain accommodation businesses in Europe that saw a strong increase in occupancy over the last six months was 62 percent. Meanwhile, the share of independent accommodation businesses whose occupancy rate strongly increased over that same period was 45 percent.
