From charming coastal towns to the northern dunes, and to the colliding midpoint of the Baltic and Northern seas, Denmark is a popular vacation destination with many notable sights. Taking part of the rich environment is more accessible through renting holiday houses, which is the most popular form of accommodation among tourists. Over 23 million overnight stays took place in holiday cottages in 2024, whereas hotels had around 20 million stays. In August 2024, the hotel industry’s revenue amounted to 2.5 billion Danish kroner. This was an increase from the pre-pandemic period when it reached approximately 1.8 billion for August 2019. The market size is expected to grow by roughly eight percent over a five-year period ending in 2029.
