*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted in December 2024 as figures for fiscal year 2024. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year. Figures for previous years are based on earlier surveys.
**Figures are based on diary entries of 901 respondents. Answers represent the average usage time of two weekdays, which is why the sample size is indicated as 1,802 respondents. From fiscal year 2024 onward, the number of respondents increased because of the inclusion of an additional age group (women aged 70 to 79 years old).

Data prior to fiscal year 2024 come from previous reporting.

Citation formats

Women in Japan on average spent minutes per weekday using the internet in fiscal year 2024. The internet usage time increased compared to the previous year despite the inclusion of women in their seventies in the survey. This was caused by increasing usage times among women below the age of 60. As a breakdown by age group shows, the internet usage time was higher among the younger cohorts.
