According to a survey conducted in Japan in August 2024, a leak of one's personal information or internet usage history was by far the leading reason for respondents to feel insecure when using the internet. This issue was mentioned by more than ** percent of the people who participated in the survey. Privacy issues were followed by infections with computer viruses and false billings or frauds. The same survey showed that a majority of people in Japan feel insecure when using the internet, while a breakdown by age group indicated that the tendency to feel this way was more pronounced among older generations.
