During a survey fielded in Brazil in March 2022, over ** percent of respondents said fake news on messaging mobile apps and social media could influence the results of the elections. The Brazilian general election was scheduled for October 2022. In September 2021, more than out of four people interviewed stated that the spread of fake news on politicians and the Supreme Court justices threatened democracy in Brazil.
