Generation Z: persons who were 12 to 25 years old at the time of the survey and born between 1996 and 2009.
Generation Y: persons who were 26 to 40 years old at the time of the survey and born between 1981 and 1995. This generation is often referred to as Millennials.
Generation X: persons who were 41 to 55 years old at the time of the survey and born between 1966 to 1980.
As the Verbrauchs- und Medienanalyse (Consumption and media analysis) includes data on the population aged 14 and older, the complete age span of Generation Z cannot be displayed.

Generations in Germany 2021, by technical affinity and knowledge
In 2021, almost ** percent of Gen Z respondents in Germany were confident in their technical knowledge. Almost ** percent liked to try out new technical devices. Among Millennials (Gen Y), the same was true for close to ** percent, while among those aged between 41 and 55 years only just over ** percent said that they liked to try out new technical devices. The figures are based on a survey conducted in Germany.
