According to a survey released three months before the Colombian presidential elections of **, Gustavo Petro led the opinion polls as he stood out as the preferred candidate across all age groups. The left politician and former mayor of Bogot谩 was particularly popular amongst young Colombians; over a third of those aged between 18 and 25 claimed that they would vote for him if the elections took place the following day. He gathered a larger share of voters among Colombians of a higher socioeconomic status as well. On the other hand, Rodolfo Hern谩ndez found most of his electorate amongst Colombians whose age ranged from ** to **, as ** percent of them intended to vote for the independent candidate.
