Following the results of the first round, the candidate Rodrigo Paz Pereira, from the Christian Democratic Party, registered the highest share of valid votes with 54.73 percent, making him the elected president of Bolivia. The result follows a 20-year rule of the Movement for Socialism (MAS-IPSP) presenting a clear change in politics and the political participation of the South American country.Â
