In Turkey, the first round of presidential elections was held on May 14, 2023. As a result, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received 27.13 million votes, whereas his main opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu gained 24.6 million. When Erdoğan could not secure the first round reaching a simple majority of the votes cast, the elections proceeded to the second round. Incumbent president Erdoğan won in the second round on May 28, 2023, securing 52.2 percent of the votes which totaled over 27.8 million.
