According to a survey carried out in Colombia in 2022, over two thirds of respondents believed that persecution of political and social leaders is a serious problem in this South American country. Whereas 31.3 percent of Colombians did not think this was a relevant issue. Social leaders in Colombia are in a extremely dangerous situation, according to the most recent data, approximately 305 social leaders and human rights defenders were murdered in a year in the country.
