Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine at the end of February 2022, there was clear support among the Norwegian population for exports of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Nearly 60 percent of the respondents were in favor of supporting Ukrainians with weapons. The Norwegian government approved exports only days after the invasion, but there is a debate in the country on whether one becomes too involved in the war by exporting military equipment to one of the fighting parties. A few days after the invasion, the Norwegian government decided to send weapons and military armor to Ukraine.
