Opinion of Brazilians on democracy and dictatorship 1989-2024
According to a survey carried out since 1989, support for democracy has been increasing in Brazil throughout the last decades. Between 1989 and 2023, the share of Brazilians who believed that democracy is always better than any other form of government increased by ** percent points, reaching ** percent in the most recent survey. In 2024, eight percent of respondents claimed that, under certain circumstances, dictatorship was preferable to a democratic regime.
