According to a survey from November to December 2021, Facebook was the most used social media platform for political information among all respondents older than 30 years. Also owned by Meta Platforms, Instagram was the second-most preferred network for this type of activity, being the top choice for respondents aged between 16 and 29 years old. Meanwhile, WhatsApp followed Facebook among respondents older than 50 years and older, as 29 percent of respondents chose the messenger app as their main channel for political information.
