China has the largest LNG import capacity under development as of 2024. The East Asian country is expected to add nearly 226 million metric tons in annual import capacity within the next few years, of which 115.8 million metric tons worth is already in construction. This was far more than the project pipeline of other Asian countries such as India and Taiwan. By comparison, the United States was the country with the largest LNG export capacity under development.
