"The European innovation scoreboard provides a comparative analysis of innovation performance in EU countries, other European countries, and regional neighbours. It assesses the relative strengths and weaknesses of national innovation systems and helps countries identify areas they need to address.
Intellectual assets captures different forms of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) generated by the innovation process, including PCT patent applications, Trademark applications, and Design applications.
The EIS 2021 distinguish between four main types of activities, and 12 innovation dimensions, capturing in total 32 indicators."

According to the European innovation scoreboard, which measures innovation in Europe through a variety of different indicators, Austria had the highest score when it came to 'intellectual assets' in 2022, a category which measures the strengths of intellectual property rights, such as patent applications, trademark applications, and design applications.
