Fuel oil, kerosene, and other oil-based fuels are the most common residential heating fuel type in Connecticut. In 2022, around 36.3 percent of occupied housing units relied on oil-based fuels for heating. Utility gas followed closely, with 36.27 percent. By comparison, 18.3 percent of the residences used electricity for heating and 0.2 percent used solar energy.
