Utility gas is by far the most popular residential heating fuel type in Utah. In 2022, some 78.6 percent of occupied housing units in the state relied on utility gas for heating. Electricity was the second most used house heating fuel type. Both fuels combined accounted for more than 95 percent of Utah's residential heating.
