During the season 2018/2019, Kiambu was the county with the highest production volume of coffee in Kenya, despite pressures from real estates and other competing agricultural enterprises. Approximately 9.8 million metric tons were produced in the area. In the same period, coffee produced in the whole country amounted to roughly 45 million metric tons.
