In the 2018/2019 season, Kiambu was the leading county in coffee production in Kenya. Mostly, coffee produced in the county was concentrated in estate farms (around 8.6 million metric tons), against the approximately 1.1 million metric tons from co-operatives. Notably, there are inverse dynamics in the other main-producer counties, where smallholders accumulate most of the coffee production volumes.
