Since its founding in 2010, the Chinese company Xiaomi has rapidly risen to the top of the ultra-crowded Chinese technology market and now counts itself among the world’s leading consumer electronics manufacturers. Despite strong competition from industry leaders such as Apple and Samsung, Xiaomi has maintained steadily growing revenues, operating income, and profits. In its home market, Xiaomi has the fifth-highest market share behind other local brands in Transsion and OPPO. Xiaomi has also found success in the wearables sector. Since first entering the market in with its Mi Band, the company has overtaken the long-established market leader Fitbit and challenged the Apple Watch for the most popular new product in the market. In 2024, Xiaomi captured around 11 percent of global wearable shipments, securing second place behind Apple's dominant 20 percent market share and surpassing Samsung. Xiaomi also entered the extended reality (XR) market with its AR glasses and VR headset.
