In 2024, the number of licensed infectologists in Brazil amounted to around specialists, up from approximately specialized doctors registered two years prior. This figure showed a constant increase since 2013, when doctors authorized to practice in the medical field of infectious diseases totaled about professionals in the country. Infectology is a holistic field of medicine focused on treating and diagnosing complex infections.
