In 2024, the number of licensed plastic surgeons in Brazil totaled about 7,000 doctors, down from around 7,800 specialists reported two years prior. This figure had been increasing since 2013, when the number of doctors specializing in plastic surgery amounted to roughly 4,800 physicians. As of 2024, there were over 37,000 general surgeons in Brazil.
