The coronavirus pandemic caused significant disruptions in the hospitality industry across the globe. In the Nordic region, this can be seen in the decline in the revenue per available room (RevPAR) of hotels in capital cities from April onwards due to restrictions in non-essential travels worldwide. Hotels in Reykjavik experienced the most dramatic price drop from March to April when hotels cost just *** euro per night. RevPAR continued to drop on the fourth quarter of 2020, with hotel rooms generating revenue as low as euros per available room. Hotels in Copenhagen and Helsinki generated the highest revenue in December, but it was still lower than the revenues generated pre-pandemic.
