The number of foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Europe rose sharply between 2012 and 2017, since which there has been a gradual decline in the number of new FDI projects. At its peak in 2017, a total of new FDI projects were launched, compared to only in 2024. Nevertheless, foreign investment in Europe has rebounded from its pandemic-induced low point in 2020, when only new projects were started.Â
