In 2022, 1444 FDI cases were reported by member states as having trigerred the notification requirement for possible foreign investment screening. Of these cases, only 55 percent (794 cases) underwent screening procedures, with the remaining cases judged to not require screening under the relevant legislations.Â

Of the foreign direct investment (FDI) cases which were screened by authorities in the European Union in 2022, ** percent were approved without additional conditions placed on the investments. Of the remaining ** percent, nine percent were authorized with additional conditions, while only five percent were either prohibited or withdrawn by the investors.Â
