The number of employees at domestic credit institutions in the Netherlands declined significantly between 1999 and 2024, despite a notable rebound in recent years. In 1999, these institutions employed over 124,000 people. By 2019, that figure had dropped to under 60,000 - the lowest point during the period. However, employment has since recovered, rising to 79,546 employees by 2024.
