Until 2021, calculations were based on population numbers published by the Federal Statistics Office in Germany on December 31, 2011. From 2022, figures were based on the census from December 31, 2022. Additionally, production and foreign trade data from the same source were included.

In 2024, water was the most consumed non-alcoholic beverage in Germany, with liters per capita. Soft drinks showed only slightly lower consumption figures at liters.
