China is the market leader

China was the global leader in crude steel production in 2022, accounting for ** percent of global output. Compared to the other regions, this was by far the largest share in production. Moreover, China's Baowu Group was the world's largest steel producer in 2022. The company manufactured around million metric tons of crude steel that year, which was around ** million metric tons more than ArcelorMittal, the second-largest company.
