Political affiliation plays an important role in attitudes, with 90 percent of Democrats and 72 percent of independents stating they disapprove of the Supreme Court's decision, while 71 percent of Republicans approve of it.
The Roe v. Wade ruling had allowed voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion) to be guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution through the right to privacy since 1973.
