The source adds the following information: "The figure is not an exact forecast of the global electrolyzer capacity for 2026. It is based on published announcements of projects and their service start timelines. For cases where data was not available, an average ratio between electrolyzers and renewable capacity at the national or regional level was used based on data already available from developers.

Electrolysis with renewable energies: forecasted capacity by region 2021-2026
In 2020, the global capacity of electrolyzers was *** GW, primarily using grid electricity to produce hydrogen. Planned projects in this sector set the global electrolyzer capacity for 2026 at around ** GW, of which only about half can be covered by the existing installed capacity. Thus, it is expected that between 2021 and 2026, the additional electrolyzer production capacity will amount to *** gigawatts (GW). Of these, *** GW will be generated in China, positioning it as the region with the strongest commitment to this energy source, followed by Latin America.
