In 2020, more than three-fifths of the global hydrogen demand was met using fossil fuels without any system to capture the generated carbon dioxide. Thanks to the planet decarbonization process proposed at the climate summit in November 2021, the use of this type of hydrogen is expected to be reduced by half in favor of more environmentally friendly options such as green hydrogen, produced through an electrolysis process.
