Global low-emissions hydrogen supply 2022-2030, by scenario
Worldwide supply of low-emissions hydrogen stood at approximately * cubic meters of natural gas equivalent (bcme) in 2022. This figure is forecast to grow over the next decade, reaching ** bcme in 2030 under a STEPS scenario or up to *** bcme under a NZE scenario. While the first scenario is based on current policies and those under development, the second assumes that the global energy sector will achieve net-zero COâ‚‚ emissions by 2050. An important component of the net-zero scenario is to down-scale natural gas production globally.
