This statistic presents the budget forecasts for ministries in France for 2023. For this exercise, the Ministry of Economy and Finance received the largest allocation, far ahead of the budgets of the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
For the ministries' budgets, the State announces both the amount of commitment authorizations (AE) and the payment credits (CP). Commitment authorizations (AE) constitute "the upper limit of expenditures that can be committed." Commitment authorizations support the commitment of expenses that can span several years, such as investments, whose execution and payment can be spread over multiple fiscal years. Payment credits (CP) represent "the upper limit of expenditures that can be ordered or paid during the year to cover commitments made under the commitment authorizations." They support the payment of previously committed expenses.
