Between 2015 and 2024, the number of refugees in Europe quintupled. From 2021 to 2022, the figure rose from *** million to ***Â million, largely due to the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine, which forced millions of Ukrainians to cross the Polish border and move further into Europe.
