In 2024, EU citizens expressed contrasting views on the role of bribery and personal connections in accessing public services. Agreement was strongest in Greece, Croatia, and Portugal, where more than ** respondents believed such practices were widespread. Conversely, fewer than ** people in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark agreed. On average, ** percent of people across the EU27 believed bribery or connections are often the easiest way to obtain certain public services in their country.
