Corruption in Italy - statistics & facts
More than 30 years after Mani Pulite, the large-scale judicial investigation that disclosed established bribing mechanisms between ruling parties and entrepreneurs, public opinion believes that Italy has done significant steps backwards in terms of corrupt behaviors, and stricter regulations did not halt bribery. On the contrary, more than two thirds of Italians affirm that corruption has increased after the 1990s scandals, disclosing a severe and widespread phenomenon in the country.
