In 2019, it was estimated that a total of around 40 percent of children worldwide suffered from anemia. At that time, 21 percent of children had mild anemia, while only one percent had severe anemia. Anemia is a condition in which a person does not have enough healthy red blood cells to effectively carry oxygen throughout the body. There are many different types of anemia including iron deficiency anemia, megaloblastic anemia, and hemolytic anemia.
