Milk and rice production followed, with each value chain contributing ** percent of total emissions. Combined, livestock production (including milk) represented roughly ** percent of global food system emissions.
Almost three-quarters of food system emissions come from agriculture and land use activities, with the remaining shares coming from upstream and downstream services such as transportation, food processing, and packaging.Â
