When it comes to traveling short distances of around *** kilometers or *** mile in their neighborhood, the bicycle is the first choice of transport for ** percent of people in the United Kingdom. This is the highest share of people walking for short trips among surveyed European countries. The country with the lowest walking mode share is the Netherlands, which has the highest reported cycling mode share among European countries.
