The source specifies each country sample consists of around 1,000 respondents in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, mainland China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Spain, and the U.S. In Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, and Turkey, there were around 500 respondents.

When it comes to traveling short distances of around two kilometers or one mile in their neighborhood, the bicycle is the first choice of transport for ** percent of people in the Netherlands. This is far higher than in neighboring Germany, where ** percent of respondents to the same survey indicated that the bike would be their first choice.
