287 interviews were conducted with hedge fund, private equity firms, and institutional investors from across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. The combined AUM represented by the interviewees amounted to roughly 5.8 trillion U.S. dollars.
Participants were asked how did they think each of the listed asset classes performed compared to their expectations year to date 2022.

As of 2022, private equity was ranked as the top security to outperform expectations, with half of investors noting their performance expectations had been exceeded. Hedge funds, however, were ranked less favorably with ** percent of investors stating this security underperformed.
