According to a survey on streaming platforms in February 2022, Netflix was the most-used streaming platform among Indonesians, as stated by approximately **** percent of the respondents. This was followed by other local streaming sites, used by around ** percent of the respondents.

Streaming: a well-liked pastime

The popularity of streaming had skyrocketed since the COVID-19 pandemic, when people were forced to find pastime while being in lockdown. A recent survey revealed that watching movies was the most popular leisure activity among Indonesians. While Netflix is the most used streaming service in the country, Korean drama lovers have their own preferences when it comes to where they stream their favorite drama series. As of a July 2022, VIU was the most popular streaming platform for Korean dramas in Indonesia.

Preferences of Indonesians

The growing demand for streaming content in Indonesia can be seen through the frequency of using subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) services. As of a recent study, Indonesians used SVoD services several times a week. To watch movies and video content, most of the over-the-top (OTT) viewers in Indonesia preferred to stream it on their smartphones. In comparison, ** percent of users opted to watch video content on their laptops.
