In 2022, a survey conducted in the selected African countries found that most people take less than a week to prepare before traveling to their hometown for Ramadan. A share of 44 percent of people prepares less than a week before travel. The lowest percentage of people, approximately 14 percent, start their preparation two to four weeks before travel. Furthermore, Ramadan is on the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting. It begins and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon.
