A little more than a third of French people surveyed shortly after the second round of the 2022 legislative elections wanted the President of the Republic to dissolve the National Assembly so that new elections could be held. This wish was more popular among ecologist voters (** percent), among France Insoumise voters (** percent), and among far-right voters (** percent for those of Reconquête! and ** percent among Marine Le Pen voters).
Provided for in Article 12 of the French Constitution, dissolution can be declared by the President of the Republic "after consultation with the Prime Minister and the Presidents" of the National Assembly and the Senate.
