As of June 2022, most Americans feel that the individuals who broke into the Capitol were responsible for the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021. ** percent of respondents felt that Donald Trump was very responsible for the attack. ** percent of respondents felt that social media companies were at least somewhat responsible for the attack.

On January 6, 2021, a mob of protestors stormed the United States Capitol building in an attempt to overturn the defeat of Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. These events, which are now commonly referred to as the Capitol attack or Capitol insurrection, are currently under investigation by a U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee.
