From 2014 to 2016, there were significantly more men than women applying for asylum in Denmark. However, since 2017, the numbers have been fairly similar. In 2022, *** men and *** women applied for asylum in Denmark. After the influx of refugees to Europe in 2015, the Danish government have implemented some of the tightest asylum laws in Europe. As a consequence of this, but also because the general number of refugees arriving in Europe has decreased over the last years, the number of asylum applicants arriving in the country fell thereafter.
